Getting back into the swing of it, in 2023

I realize it has been a while since I’ve posted. Early November to be specific. But I’m going to try to do a better job of posting What’s going on with SVP.

Thanksgiving found the SVP family separated around the country.

Cheryl and Benjamin were up in God’s country, commonly known as Michigan

I was in Austin, Texas visiting my beautiful daughter, Jessica and her boyfriend Joe.

We had a good time together and it was nice to catch up.

Fast forward to Christmas time. Cheryl and Benjamin and I were traveling to Palm Beach and cape Canaveral.

We stayed in one of our timeshare partners, vacation villages in West Palm.

It was a nice place, but a little bit dated. While I was there, I was able to get some pretty good video of a cruise ship, and when the weather turned cold, I got some great video of some surfers off the coast.

After a week there, we went north to Cape Canaveral. The weather was still under 50°, but it started warming up a little bit and by the time we left, it was almost bearable for Florida.

One of the great things about being at the Holiday Inn vacation club resort in cape Canaveral is SpaceX. They are launching rockets almost weekly.

We were lucky enough to see one of the latest launches, at 4:40 in the morning. Night lunches are a mixed bag. On the one hand, you get some beautiful visuals of the rocket going up.

The downside is, you do not see the actual rocket, unless you have a telescope. All you see is the giant plume of flame coming from behind.

One of the other great things about the resort in Cape Canaveral is that you are close to the cruise ship terminal. It can be a little disconcerting when you open up your curtains in the morning and there’s a giant cruise ship right outside your window.

That wasn’t there when I went to bed

Cape Canaveral is probably the second largest cruise ship terminal in the country. Usually there are anywhere from 4 to 8 cruise ships parked at Cape Canaveral any given week.

Hello liberty

All in all, it was a pretty good vacation, and a nice end to 2022.
